RPEAM 2016

For the third year in a row, a team lead by Mission Control Space Services is running the Robotic Planetary Exploration Analogue Mission (RPEAM) at the International Space University Space Studies Program (SSP) this year in Haifa, Israel! On August 8th and 9th, three teams of SSP Participants are becoming international interdisciplinary astronauts from the ‘International Space Agency’.

The purpose of RPEAM is to give participants the opportunity to learn about mission planning, definition and real time planning operations, overseen by a team of experts from academia and industry. Students will be involved in learning the concepts and theories specific to robotic planetary exploration, a mission planning session, and finally, the execution of the analogue mission.

From their site at the Technion Israel Institute of Technology, teams will control an Ontario Drive and Gear rover prototype in the Canadian Space Agency Mars Yard in Montreal, scouting optimal locations on the ‘red planet’ for human exploration and science.
